Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

Get into Teaching

Great teachers are never forgotten. Teachers transform lives and make futures brighter. Beacon Academy is committed to providing quality training for all staff and has a long tradition of involvement in Initial Teacher Training. As a school we support a large number of trainees and NQTs each year and are committed to striving to provide quality provision in Initial Teacher Training and Early Professional Development. By recruiting the very best talent to train to teach, we believe we can continue to achieve the very best outcomes for our students. You, or someone that you know, could be a part of that new generation of great teachers, and become instrumental in ensuring our students are equipped with the knowledge they need to succeed in life.

Beacon Academy supports a number of routes into teaching:

Wealden Partnership

We train our teachers directly through the Wealden Partnership, linked to Brighton and Sussex Universities. If you wish to train locally, find out more about The Wealden Partnership

Teach Kent and Sussex - SCITT

You can also apply to train to teach at Beacon Academy by applying to our local school centre for initial teacher training, Teach Kent & Sussex. They believe that the best way to train to teach is alongside highly effective teachers supported by strong mentors. Professional development, as part of your teacher training, takes place in Tunbridge Wells. This includes the training to obtain your PGCE with Sussex University. For further details please email:

Training will take place within the partnership of West Kent and East Sussex primary & secondary schools. Trained teachers gain a PGCE: the internationally recognised qualification of trained teachers. The Teach Kent & Sussex partnership has extensive expertise in training teachers and has recently been recognised by OFSTED as an outstanding provider of teacher training. Primary and a wide range of secondary subjects are available. Generous bursaries, scholarships and early career payments (up to £34k) are available to support you.
