Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

Get into Teaching

Great teachers are never forgotten. Teachers transform lives and make futures brighter. Beacon Academy is committed to providing quality training for all staff and has a long tradition of involvement in Initial Teacher Training. As a school we support a large number of trainees and NQTs each year and are committed to striving to provide quality provision in Initial Teacher Training and Early Professional Development. By recruiting the very best talent to train to teach, we believe we can continue to achieve the very best outcomes for our students. You, or someone that you know, could be a part of that new generation of great teachers, and become instrumental in ensuring our students are equipped with the knowledge they need to succeed in life in the 21st Century.

Beacon Academy supports a number of routes into teaching:

Wealden Partnership

We train our teachers directly through the Wealden Partnership, linked to Brighton and Sussex Universities.. If you wish to train locally, join us. Check out the opportunities within The Wealden Partnership

Teach Kent and Sussex - SCITT

You can also apply to train to teach at Beacon Academy by applying to our local school centre for initial teacher training, Teach Kent & Sussex Like the Wealden partnership, Teach Kent and Sussex believe that the best way to train to teach is alongside highly effective teachers supported by strong mentors. Professional development, as part of your teacher training, takes place in Tunbridge Wells. This includes the training to obtain your PGCE with Sussex University. Bromley Schools’ Collegiate

Bromley Schools’ Collegiate is a well-established provider of Initial Teacher Training with over 25 years experience and we are pleased to be bringing this expertise to East Sussex from September 2019. On our ITT programmes, trainees spend 4 days each week in school, learning how to teach from experienced teachers, supported by one day each week of professional training provided by Senior Leaders and experts in Teaching and Learning drawn from our schools.

100% of our trainees say they feel prepared for their NQT year.

What our last cohort of trainees say about us:

“I know my confidence stems from the opportunities that have been provided by Bromley Schools’ Collegiate” “Support was consistent throughout and I have really benefited from learning as you go approach” “I feel very lucky to have had 2 amazing placements with very, very supportive departments who would do anything they could to help” “I think the course is fantastic.
